Aunt Georgie's Chocolate Cake

Yield: 12 servings
Oven Temperature: 350 degrees F

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1 cup white granulated sugar
3 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 cup sour milk (see directions below)
1/4 cup hot water
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Sifted powdered sugar

Aunt Georgie's Chocolate Cake

Directions:
Make sour milk: Add milk to 1 tablespoon vinegar in a measuring cup to make 1 cup. Set aside.

Sift together the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt into mixing bowl. Add egg, butter, sour milk, hot water and vanilla. Beat with electric mixer at medium speed for 2 minutes.

Pour batter into greased 13x9x2 inch baking pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes or until a toothpick or wooden skewer inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean. Serve warm with a dusting of powdered sugar or with fresh whipped cream.
