Snickerdoodle Cookies

Yield: 6 dozen
Oven Temperature: 400 degrees F

Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter at room temperature
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups white granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon

Snickerdoodle Cookies

Directions:
Cream until smooth the butter, shortening and sugar. Add the eggs and beat well. Blend in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.

In a small bowl, combine the 2 tablespoons each of sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.

Scoop rounded teaspoons of your dough and roll them between your hands to form 1 inch balls. Roll the balls into the cinnamon sugar mixture you set aside, and place the cookies 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8 - 10 minutes or just until the edges of the cookies begin to turn golden. Immediately remove cookies from baking sheets and allow them to cool.
